About Me
After earning my bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, I studied Production Design at the Mowelfund Film Institute. Since 2003, I have been working as a freelance production designer, set decorator, stylist, producer and project manager for companies, production houses (Film, TV, Commercials) and print media. I’ve created film and TV sets for National Geographic and Discovery Channel; Production outfits like Star Cinema, Viva Films, TV5, ABS-CBN; Ghung-Ho Films, Straight Shooters, Brew Productions, Provil, Unitel and Furball Inc. etc. Working in the Philippines’ various scales of production, I design and visualize, manage teams and budgets, source materials and requirements; research, and manage logistics. I like the challenge of achieving good design and creating different worlds with challenging budgets. I like finding solutions and making things work.
In 2008, after joining the Berlinale Talent Campus, I decided to also be based in Berlin, and started working as a set dresser and set decorator assistant, working towards designing more German projects. I’ve had the opportunity to work on films like Zweiohrkueken (Barefoot Films), Drei (X-Filme Creative Pool GmbH) and Hotel Lux (Bavaria Pictures).
I am also the co-founder and one of the managing partners of Brainchild Studios, a production company and cross-media platform in Manila. I have also recently started The Propmasters, an online prop shop catering to films produced in the Philippines and southeast Asia.
I produce, direct and write for other adventures in sound, image and space. I believe in creating systems for sustainable production design and I invest time in exploring how different cultures work, think and apply design.
I divide my time working and living in Manila and Berlin. This website represents an archive of my work.
